Name: Clare Philbrock

Job title: Consultant Solicitor

What does your job involve?
Undertaking some casework and support for the Child Care team, plus Heads of Department Supervision and Risk Management.

What do you like most about your job?
The variety and flexibility of my role, and being part of a dedicated and supportive team here at Cartridges Law.

What is the biggest misconception people have about your job?
Legal Aid lawyers are not ‘Fat Cats’, we are ‘Skinny Kitties’! We have to be highly skilled to undertake such a demanding role, and I don’t think that’s widely understood.

What has been the highlight of your career so far at Cartridges Law?
The belief that the Partners have in my abilities and the positive feedback and support from them and others.

What qualities or attributes do you think you need to work in law?
In my field of Child Law – patience, kindness, common sense, guts and not to be surprised by anything.

What is your top legal tip?
A solicitor should advise you about the strengths and weaknesses of your case and help you to see the situation from the other party’s point of view.
