What attracted you to law?
It seemed a good idea at the time.
What do you like most about your job?
Achieving a successful outcome for a client and seeing the difference that I can make.
What do you like least about your job?
The way in which the law is in some cases too inflexible to allow for a client to achieve the desired outcome.
What do you think makes you good at your job?
I am very organised and structured which helps when acting for a client. I am a good listener and therefore I gain a thorough understanding of what my client is wanting to achieve.
What is the biggest misconception that people have about your job?
We attend Court all the time! With good negotiation skills most of my cases never reach a court or tribunal room.
What is the most common legal mistake you see businesses make?
Failure to plan and have the rights systems / policies in place. Businesses often try to resolve a dispute internally without seeking the necessary advice before undertaking the task.
What do you think the biggest challenge will be for SMEs in the next 12 months?
The change to people’s behaviours. What SME’s have projected may not be viable therefore a change of strategy will be required. Flexibility is key to any business no matter what size they are.
What do you like best about working for Cartridges Law?
The philosophy of the firm and the people that I work with.
Describe your team in three words:
Joe Norman – knowledgeable, efficient and thorough
Lisa Noyce – well organised, approachable and resourceful
Leanne Yendell – energetic, skilled and proficient
If you weren’t doing this job, what else would you like to do?
Own a coffee & cake shop, as I love talking with people and what better way to do it than over coffee and cake.
What piece of advice would you give to a young person considering a career in law?
Review all avenues to gain qualification as there are multiple ways to achieve a profession in the law.
Do you have any pets?
I have a dog called Rolo who I did not want, but I was outvoted by my family. However I would not be without him now.
