Housing
Our housing experts are Tony Griffin, a partner with over 30 years experience in this area of law, and James Durston, caseworker.
We advise and represent clients with a wide range of housing problems, mainly under the legal aid scheme.
Our aim is to provide a high quality service to individuals who often feel they have no rights against large public organisations. We make a point of carefully supporting our clients through often complex legal processes.
Our particular specialisms are:-
- acting for homeless people in challenging decisions by local authorities that they are not entitled to be housed
- acting for tenants defending possession proceedings by private landlords, local authorities and housing associations
- acting for homeowners faced with repossession for mortgage arrears
- acting for people facing anti-social behaviour injunctions, or committal to prison for breaching an injunction
- acting for tenants who have been illegally evicted
- acting for tenants trying to get their landlords to carry out essential repairs to their home
We also advise private landlords who wish to ensure that they use the correct legal procedures in evicting assured shorthold tenants.
Many of our clients are referred to us by local agencies such as CAB, Community Housing Aid, and Age Concern. We are widely respected in the local area as the first port of call for housing advice, as the number of solicitors doing this work has dwindled.
We have vast experience in representing clients in the County Court and High Court, and the Court of Appeal.
